Solar Time is a clock app for Android that shows the time by the Sun where you are. Nothing about you leaves your phone.

What the app uses, and why
Location
To show solar time, the app needs your longitude. You can either type in a place or let the app use your phone’s approximate location (Android’s “approximate location” permission; the app never asks for precise location). If you choose your location, the app reads it when you ask and again when the app opens, to keep the clock right if you travel. Your location is used only on your phone to calculate the time. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Places, settings and alarms
The places you save, your settings and your alarms are stored only on your phone. The list of towns and cities, and the time-zone data, are built into the app, so searching for a place happens entirely offline.
Alarms and notifications
To ring alarms on time, the app asks Android for permission to schedule exact alarms, show notifications, show a ringing alarm over the lock screen, keep ringing in the background, and reschedule alarms after the phone restarts. These permissions are used only for your alarms.
What the app does not do
Solar Time has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. It does not collect, store or share any personal information on any server. It does not use the internet for its own features.
Donations
You can support the app with an optional donation through Google Play. Google Play handles the payment. Solar Time never sees your card details, your name or your email address. Google’s handling of the payment is covered by Google’s own privacy policy.
Feedback and sharing
If you choose “Send feedback”, the app opens your own email app with our address filled in. Anything you send is an ordinary email, which we use only to reply and to improve the app. If you choose to share a card from the app, your phone’s share menu sends it where you choose.
Children
Solar Time is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.
Deleting your data
Everything the app stores is on your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android’s settings, deletes it all.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
